Director
甄念菻 / Kendell Yan (she/they) is a second generation Chinese, trans-femme, non-binary artist living on the stolen lands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ilwətaɁɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) nations. Her practice includes live performance, visual art, sculpture, digital media, makeup, writing, and costuming, and is primarily centered around her drag identity, Maiden China. Through this lens she explores themes like vulnerability, queer ritual, the concept of the “hyphen”, and liminal experience, by incorporating elements of classical Chinese opera, glamour, punk, and intimate contact performance art.

Director
Chris Reed also known as Continental Breakfast is a non-binary multidisciplinary artist, event curator and Director of media production company, Queer Based Media. They are Beardy’s and Okemasis Cree and are a settler on the stolen lands of the Txʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. Reed is self taught within the mediums of film, photography, drag performance art, design, and production. Their artistic practice looks at untold queer stories and histories along with complicating intersections of identity through moments of relatability and creating spaces of refuge. They work in a solo and collaborative approach and is a member of the Darlings, a non binary drag performance art collective in so-called Vancouver. Reed was named in Vancouver Magazines Power 50 list, BC Business 30 under 30, has had work screened at the Vancouver Queer Film Festival (2022), Seattle Queer Film Festival (date), and Red Nation Film Festival. They have performed at the Polygon gallery (date), SUM Gallery, and numerous self produced shows including The Darlings: Archive (2023) which was funded by Canada Arts Council.

The Producer
Maria Zarrillo (they/them) is a queer, non-binary Film & Theatre Producer with a background in stage management, event production, advocacy, marketing, publicity, and audience services. They have worked with a variety of companies and communities in these capacities, both locally and nationally. In addition to their freelance career, Maria is the Producer with Queer Based Media, Managing Producer with the frank theatre, and Associate Producer with Zee Zee Theatre. Maria is a graduate of Studio 58’s production program, the University of Winnipeg with a major in Theatre & Film and a minor in Human Rights, and they are currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Justice Studies at Royal Roads University. Maria's thesis research addresses oppression within the performing arts sector by looking to Queer Utopian Theory as a model to incite systemic change in arts organizations.
